Amazing grace, how sweet the sound.

On March 8th NEA Jazz Master Dianne Reeves performed at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center, solidifying her second to last show in the US to begin 2019 before travelling abroad. Those who were in attendance witnessed a passionate, sincere performance by the jazz singer. Accompanying Reeves were acclaimed jazz pianist Peter Martin, Brazilian jazz guitarist Romero Lubambo, jazz bassist Reginald Veal, and drummer Terreon Gully. Each artist added their own flare, entertaining onlookers while providing the necessary rhythm and cadence to enhance Reeves’ vocal delivery.

The performance ended with Reeves singing “Testify,” a song from her 1999 album Bridges. For her audience this choice seemed fitting, seeing that everyone rose to their feet at its conclusion demanding an encore.
