Hey Kristin Wong,

Great piece! I was actually thinking about interrupting from a place of excitement after reading your opening sentence about how interrupting is a “power play.” Perhaps, one may seek to share their opinions in the middle of a conversation, while cutting someone off, in an attempt to have their voice heard immediately. This can be consciously done or a subconscious act. In a sense, the need to have one’s opinions heard immediately is a “power play” due to the disregard for another’s voice. Ultimately, I agree with your “power play” theory and believe that interrupting for any reason can be traced back to this point.
