Former President Barack Obama and American musician Bruce Springsteen on March 22nd aired the sixth episode of their podcast Renegades: Born in the USA, entitled “Wrestling with Ghosts: American Men.” In it the two discussed how American culture often promotes troublesome ideas about masculinity. Obama claimed both he and Springsteen are more attune to this issue because of the complicated relationships they had with their fathers, which he described as flawed role models both spent much of their lives coming to terms with.

The past weeks have been eventful for Black music aficionados. First, Kerrion Franklin, the estranged son of legendary gospel artist Kirk Franklin, leaked audio recordings of heated phone conversations between he and his father, in which the elder Franklin used profane language and threatened bodily harm, via Instagram. Adding to this, rapper Saweetie recently announced her split from boyfriend Quavo of Migos via Twitter. Each were top trending topics on the latter platform, sparking much conversation online and beyond.

This came at a time when news of coronavirus, believed to have originated from bats in Wuhan, China, and its effects began circulating worldwide. Mengyun was met with much criticism and outrage, which prompted her to both apologize for this video and elaborate on its origin.

Orenthal “OJ” James Simpson is now free to live however he sees fit. The former NFL star was released from prison on parole in 2017 after serving time for robbery and kidnapping. According to reports, Simpson committed this act to retrieve sports memorabilia allegedly stolen from his own collection. The combined worth of several items in the collection was supposedly $75,000.

In mid-December 2019, Jewel Harris, wife of NBA player J.R. Smith, uploaded a video to her Instagram page where she prayed for her husband, her family, and Smith’s alleged mistress Candice Patton of The Flash. During the video she says,

Following his win against the Portland Trail Blazers on February 26th, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James was asked his opinion on comments made by Swedish professional footballer — soccer player — Zlatan Ibrahimović not too long before the game.
